Canada’s Chief Public Officer knows the tough ask that she and other officials are asking us all to make.
Doctor Theresa Tam says that they recognize that the changes we’re being asked to make are extremely difficult.
“Despite the hardships, we are all in this together,” says Tam, “…Canadians’ collective effort to slow the spread has allowed our health system to cope, which means we are protecting health services for everyone.”
She adds that everyone is doing their part, from healthcare providers saving lives on the front lines, to public health and lab professionals testing and tracing COVID-19 spread, to essential service workers keeping our hospitals and homes stocked, and every Canadian who is staying at home
Tam explains that of the over 373 thousand Canadians who have been tested for COVID-19, only about five per-cent have the virus.
As of this morning, there were 19,774 cases in Canada, including 461 deaths.
