Latex gloves sit, discarded, outside downtown office in Yarmouth.
Disposing of latex gloves has become a problem in Yarmouth.
The use of gloves has ramped up in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mayor Pam Mood says staff have been finding pairs of the gloves laying on the sidewalk or road all over town.
“Leaving your gloves on the side of the road, on the sidewalks, just peeling them off and leaving them wherever you decide to drop them – it’s not only a health hazard for our staff and for the public, it’s illegal and it’s a safety concern,” she said. “Please. Do not continue to leave the gloves just dropped where you decide to leave them.”
Mayor Mood says people can put them in their garbage at home or in one of the many trash cans around town.
