This is the time when we all need to remember to be kind.
That’s the message from the Federal Minister of Health, Patty Hadju, who says that this time is difficult for everyone.
“This is the time to reach out safely. Call your loved ones. Write a letter to a friend. Volunteer safely,” says Hajdu, “…Our government will continue to work hard to have your back, but you, each and every one of you, can make a difference today in how someone is feeling.”
She goes on to explain that it will also mean we need to face our fears head-on.
“We must meet our fear together with courage, and it will take courage to act with compassion. But, it is by meeting fear with courage and compassion that we will get through this together and come out stronger on the other side.”
Hajdu adds that Ottawa has launched a free mobile app to help keep Canadians up to date on the battle against COVID-19, which is available now in both the Apple App Store and on Google Play.
“This app will provide up-to-date information about the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada, including advice for preventing the spread of the virus, important contact information and guidance for seeking medical help.”
Hajdu says that Ottawa will soon be announcing new mental health supports for all Canadians during the pandemic.
