Premier Stephen McNeil says he had a positive meeting in Washington with U.S. Department of Commerce officials.
He made the case against imposing U.S. tariffs on car and truck tires.
McNeil tells Acadia News he wanted to make the point that any impact on Nova Scotia companies would have an impact not just on this province’s economy but also on jobs in the United States.
“Michelin, for example, has its Nova Scotia plants integrated into a North American strategy so raw product from Nova Scotia goes into the U.S. to make tires
The Premier says U.S. officials were very receptive to the Nova Scotia message.
He returned from Washington this morning.
