I am a Nerd. Scratch that; I am a proud member of the Nerd Herd.
I love it all – Star Trek, Star Wars. The X-Files. The Marvel movies and the comics. Science Fiction, Fantasy, all of it.
And without question, over and above pretty much everything is Batman.
I love Batman.
In the much maligned DC movies the only thing that really worked for me was Ben Affleck’s portrayal of an older Batman. It was good. There was supposed to be a movie written, directed and starring Ben called “The Batman” and I was excited about it. And then it was no more.
Just this week Affleck talked about that. Ben has been battling alcoholism and a friend of his had said “this movie will be great, and you’ll drink yourself to death doing it”.
Ben was out and director Matt Reeves was in. Then came a new script and the decision to have a young Batman.
Robert Pattinson.
Now THIS is cool! I think that Robert Pattison is a particularly gifted actor. More than that, it means the Batman was in Yarmouth filming a movie!
Batman…and Willem Dafoe, who was the Green Goblin in Spiderman.
My nerdiness is overflowing right now.
And now there’s talk of Willem Dafoe becoming the Joker. Can you imagine? After both were here doing the Lighthouse??
Dafoe was actually in consideration for the role way back in the 80’s, when Jack Nicholson ultimately became Joker. Now that Dafoe talk is just the fans speaking up and is pretty unlikely, especially after the success of Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker.
So here is how Robert Pattinson will look as the Batman. It’s a decidedly different look.
I’m keeping an open mind.
