The first Candy Cane Lane Festival is in the books for Yarmouth and the vast majority of people are calling it a big success.
Organizer Barb Firth says she was a bit worried when she realized how cold and windy it was.
“But…Yarmouth people are prety strong, they’re pretty sturdy. I was very surprised, and happy, with the number of people who were out. I thought it was great.”
She says she has been hearing from those who were in the event and those who attended.
“I’ve had lots of grat comments and I’ve had people say ‘we hope that this is going to help other people and inspire other people to do it. A couple of people said ‘you know, this year we were in it, next year, we’re in it to win it’.”
Firth says organizers and participants have already been talking about next year.
“There were things that went really well and there were some hiccups, there always are, but those are already being thought about and worked on for next year so that we can come up with an even better plan than what we had…which I think was a great start.”
Firth says the memorial candy canes in Frost Park were a huge hit with many people already asking for some for next year.
