Nova Scotia’s education minister says the new Ecole Wedgeport should open by 2021 although the attached community centre may take longer to build.
Zach Churchill was responding to questions in the House Thursday from Argyle-Barrington PC-MLA Colton LeBlanc.
Churchill tells Y95 News things are progressing.
“The site selection processing is nearing the technical completion and there should be a site or two that’s presented to the public in the very near future.”
He says the community centre is a separate project but it will not impact the timeline of the school build.
Colton LeBlanc said residents and the local committee need confirmation that their school will be replaced as promised.
“Although the school was announced earlier last year, things might be stalling and they’re just seeking assurances that the school will be pen in 2021.”
A replacement for École Wedgeport was announced in April 2018 and at that time the project’s estimated start date was listed as 2019-20.
