A PC MLA says their caucus will focus on healthcare during the fall sitting of the Legislature which resumed last week.
Colton Leblanc, the MLA for Argyle-Barrington is one of four new members and rose in the House of Assembly and took the Liberal Government to task on issues relating to ambulance service.
LeBlanc, a former paramedic, says he asked the health minister about strategies such as the new guidelines for ambulance off-loads and paramedic burnout.
“I also raised the incidents of Code Critical and see if the government is keeping track of the issues with the ambulance system and again, I didn’t get a clear response of that from the health minister.”
He also asked about the Fitch Report, a review of the current EHS model which was supposed to provide recommendations for the most efficient, effective and sustainable EMS system in Nova Scotia for the next 10 to 15 years.
LeBlanc says Nova Scotians have yet to see the final report which was due by December 28, 2018.
The government was unable to confirm if it would make that report public or not.
Meanwhile, LeBlanc recognized the more than 1,100 paramedics across Nova Scotia for their continued compassion and delivery of consistent, high-quality healthcare during the growing healthcare crisis.
Nova Scotia recognizes the last Monday of September as “Medic Monday.
In a release LeBlanc says “I hope to use my knowledge as a paramedic to be a loud voice for the people of my constituency, and paramedics across the province who aren’t being heard.”
