Today is the 51st anninersary of the Shag Harbour Incident.
On October 4th, 1967, something went fell from the sky in to the water off Shag Harbour, Nova Scotia.
Laurie Wickens, a witness to the incident, explains what he saw.
“Well we, there were the five of us in the car, we seen four lights in a row going on and off in sequence. We just thought it was an airplane. Me and one of the RCMP officers went out on the Coast Guard boat and we never seen nothing, time we got there, we was an hour behind the other boat…people were talking about foam, there was very little of it left, times we got there, so I can’t speak go into that details”
In recent years, the incident has become a draw for tourists.
Wickens, a witness to the incident, says it has been a boon to the local economy.
“brought a lot of people in to the area last fall when we had the 50 year anniversary, we filled every motel and hotel room and the restaurants and, we figured it out, we brought $400,000 in to the area that weekend”
This Saturday, UFO researchers Chris Styles, Graham Simms, and David Cvet will be at an open house hosted by the museum to unveil new video and photographic evidence of a recent daytime UFO sighting over Cape Sable Island.
