Nova Scotia’s Minister of Education says his department is addressing concerns raised by the auditor general.
In his report issued this week, Michael Pickup said nearly 80 per cent of government departments and organizations have not completed fraud risk assessments, including Education and Early Childhood Development.
Zach Churchill tells CJLS News about the auditor general’s looked at two former school board regions, the Strait and Cape Breton.
Churchill says the AG “identified that there were some concerns around security on finances. So, with the new government’s model, we can now actually get in there quickly and make sure that his recommendations are implemented.”
He says before the school boards were eliminated the department would not have been able to implement Pickup’s recommendations.
