Town council is hoping to enhance the Collins Street parking lot and add more spaces.
Deputy Mayor Phil Mooney says staff will come up with a concept over the next few months saying council would like to have it before the next fiscal year so it can be included in the budget.
He says they may take some ideas from the 2010 Ekistics plan for redeveloping the downtown.
“When it comes to community space. not taking away parking spaces but maybe to make it a gathering space for the community.”
Mooney says they want to clean up the gravel and dirt from the demolition and removal of the Roach house and remove the two yellow buildings once owned by the Yarmouth Development Corporation.
“Maybe look at moving those, put that equipment in somewhere’s else and create more parking spots.”
There was a time that the site was eyed by council for a proposed multi-million dollar arts and culture centre. That idea hasn’t been discussed for sometime now.
