As of 7:30 this morning, firefighters remain on the scene of a structure fire in Yarmouth.
The call to an apartment building at 29-31 Alma Street came in just before 3 this morning.
Yarmouth Fire Department Platoon Chief Peter Winship tells Y95 News all the tenants were evacuated safely but the fire was a difficult one.
“It’s a multi-unit dwelling and has been configured several times so it;’s hard to get to the seat of the fire.”
He says firefighters were rotated out of the interior often.
“It’s muggy, it’s humid and very hot up there.”
The fire was contained to the third floor.
A cause has yet to be determined.
Nova Scotia Power was on scene and power to the affected area has been restored.
Along with Yarmouth, firefighters from Port Maitland, Lake Vaughn, Eel Brook and District and Wedgeport and District departments were also on scene.
