The Parade of Lights is a “No-Go” for Seafest this weekend.
Councillor Steve Berry and Seafest President David Outhouse had a firm deadline of yesterday afternoon to find volunteers and participants.
Berry tells Y95 News it just didn’t happen.
“Unfortunately, despite our best interests, we couldn’t get enough boats to make a go of it Saturday night during Seafest but we haven’t given up on plans to hold a Parade of Lights later in, hopefully some time in August”
He says they will go back to the plan to make it part of a day-long fishery event.
“We’ll meet some time next week and hopefully pick a date that doesn’t overlap and give it a go and hopefully we have the support of the community as we did with this effort and hopefully boats are available”
Berry says anyone who would like to volunteer can contact him.
