A group of Maritime hockey celebrities were in Digby over the last two days.
The Maritime NHLers 4 Kids event helped raise funds for the Clare-Digby Minor Hockey Association.
One of the major stars in attendance was Boston Bruins winger Brad Marchand.
He tells Acadia News it was a lot of fun being back in Digby.
“We were here a few years ago. The people here are so nice, and the kids are a lot of fun. It’s a great feeling to be around the town again. It’s been a great trip overall.”
At a dinner Wednesday night in Digby, Marchand announced the NHLPA is donating 25 full sets of hockey gear, along with a financial contribution to the Canadian Tire Jumpstart program in Digby.
Other stars in attendance included Hockey Night in Canada host Ron MacLean, Yarmouth’s Ryan Graves, Canadian Olympians Blayre Turnbull, Jill Saulnier and Heather Moyse.
While the kids were not able to be caddies on the golf course due to weather, they were still able to meet their heroes at the arena.
