A supply of drugs has been confiscated in children’s lunch bags and back packs.
RCMP intercepted two packages in Halifax over last two weeks which concealed what they believe to be heroin.
They were notified by Canada Border Services in Montreal that the packages were to be shipped to Halifax.
Approximately 6.5 kilograms of heroin was received between the two shipments.
Testing indicates the drugs may have come in contact with Carfentanil and Methylfentanyl, two highly potent and lethal opioids.
Two Torontonians, 22 year old Mithusha Poobalasingam and 37 year old Geevan Nagendran face charges for importing and possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
RCMP from Quebec and Ontario, CBSA from Montreal and Halifax as well as York and Halifax Regional Police were all involved in the investigation.
