A pair of Shelburne County axe throwers helped put Nova Scotia on the map at the world championships.
Suzy Atwood and Darren Hudson represented the province and Canada at the four day competition in Germany.
Atwood finished seventh out of 16 women while Hudson place 11th out of 80 men.
Atwood says she surpassed her own expectations.
“I actually did a lot better than I had anticipated going into it because I knew there were going to be a lot of excellent axe throwers who do this on a regular basis.”
She says it was a great learning experience and a chance to meet people from across the world.
Atwood says she’s excited to train and develop her skills for the next world championships in two or three years in Sweden.
She hopes Nova Scotia will one day be able to host the world championships.
