The library in Liverpool will stay put for now.
The Region of Queens has signed a one year lease extension to keep the Thomas H. Raddall Library at the Rossignol Cultural Centre.
Richard MacLellan, CAO for Queens says the time will be used to determine what services the library will provide in the future.
“As we get into a new long term lease somewhere – that the form fits the function. And that our building does what the library needs it to do.”
MacLellan says the role of the library is constantly evolving.
“Libraries provide a very important function to communities. You know, cultural, social, economic and recreational opportunities. And libraries have been expanding their offerings over time.”
He says public consultation will play a role in deciding what the next version of the library will look like.
