If you see a group of people in a white Ford Explorer asking for money on the side of the road, be cautious.
RCMP say they’ve received multiple reports of a possible scam where a group of people attempt to get motorists to give them money, claiming they need it for gas or a tow truck.
They then try to sell you something like a bracelet or a ring.
Sergeant David Ferguson is with Chester District RCMP.
“The last complaint we had (Wednesday) afternoon was in New Ross area so we sent the information over to Windsor detachment and they located the vehicle and the occupants in their area probably about an hour later.”
The four occupants could be charged under the motor vehicle act for soliciting on a highway.
Ferguson says there have been incidents reported in New Brunswick and other parts of Nova Scotia.
Several locals reported to Acadia News that they saw the group in areas in North Queens and Lunenburg County.
Police don’t believe anyone has fallen for the possible scam.
