The Town of Yarmouth is reaching out to the community for direction on the use of the former South Centennial School.
The elementary school was closed by the former Tri-County Regional School Board at the end of the 2015-16 school year.
Closed schools are turned over by the province to the municipal units in which they’re located.
Mayor Pam Mood says there’s been a lot of interest expressed in South Centennial.
“We’ve had quite a number of groups, organizations and individuals come to us with ideas that perhaps they’d like to move forward with. I know the CAO will be meeting with at least one of those groups at the end of July.
Mood says the town wants to talk with people in the neighbourhood to get their thoughts.
“There’s public housing down there, there’s a big ball field, the golf course is there. Let’s chat with that neighbourhood, what would you like to see there and what would help that community grow?”
