The Historical Acadian Village of Nova Scotia has already seen some tourists this year.
The village in West Pubnico offers people a chance to see how Acadians lived many years ago.
It’s a community cultural centre as well as a major tourist attraction.
Executive director Roger d’Entremont says numbers are down slightly for the month of June.
“The weather has not been favourable and the Cat isn’t on its full schedule. But once the ferry is operating seven days a week beginning in July, I’m very optimistic for a good season.”
d’Entremont says he and the staff always enjoy seeing people’s reaction when they arrive and step back in time to experience the life of Acadians of yesteryear.
“It’s a hands-on experience of what Acadians were and how they lived. it’s the interaction between the tourists and the interpreters.”
In past years the Acadian Historical Village has attracted more than 17,000 visitors a three-month period.
