A fire alarm at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital this morning had staff wondering if the evacuation plan might have to be put in motion.
That didn’t happen and fortunately there was so fire.
The alarm was activated just before 11am on the fourth floor of building B.
Hospital spokesperson Fraser Mooney explains what happened.
“Because of the ongoing work to repair water damage from last year’s flood, workers had to temporarily disconnect the pull-station on the wall area and when they plugged it back in it triggered the alarm.”
There are no patients in that area.
Mooney says after a few minutes the alarm went to the second stage, which would have been the precursor to begin to prepare to evacuate staff.
He says luckily it was all figured out before then.
