Municipalities across Nova Scotia are making sure they have all the local legislation in place for when cannabis becomes legalized this month.
The CAO of the Municipality of Argyle says their Land-Use Bylaws are currently in the process of being amended.
Alain Muise tells CJLS News says the council and staff will be ready for October 17.
“Development agreements would be the way that we would go. We would look at each individual application on its own merit. Clearly there are things that we would want to protect the community from, noise, smells and other things that might be nuisances.”
He says in many ways the development of cannabis as a business is no different that other developments like mink farms.
Muise says they are also developing a workplace policy for marijuana.
