(Land purchased by town for new parking lot-CJLS News)
The Town of Yarmouth is doing inventory.
Staff is looking at the number of parking lots and spaces along with times and frequency of use.
Handicapped parking spaces is also part of the study.
Mayor Pam Mood says they are always mindful of the need for more public parking and the importance of building inventory.
“The town purchased the property across the the post office, with parking in mind of course, but we have no timeline on that.”
A proposed arts and culture centre would be located on the Collins Street parking lot with underground parking.
Last year, the town stated during a public meeting that it’s acquiring other areas for parking in the downtown, including a lot on Willow Street, which it has purchased.
