A motorist has been charged with stunting after being clocked driving 60 km/h over the posted limit of 100 km/h.
It happened late Saturday morning in Sable River on the 103.
The Mercedes-Benz was observed passing two other vehicles that were travelling the speed limit.
Corporal Darren Stevens of the Shelburne RCMP detachment says speed is one of the major causes of serious injury and fatal collisions.
“The amount of miles that my officers spend on the roads, and what they encounter with deer and other wildlife, the cars, people distracted. It just takes a moment in time and something serious could happen.”
The driver, a 39-year-old man from Halifax, had his driver’s license suspended and his car seized.
The fine for stunting in this province is $2422.50.
