The acting president of the Yarmouth Dog Park Association says public and business support has been very encouraging.
The facility is being developed at 28 Jarvis Street on land provided by the Town of Yarmouth which is also doing all the site preparation work.
Martha Cassidy says the town was also very helpful in another way.
“The town agreed that people could donate to the Community Asset Fund:Dog Park. We’re very grateful for that. We’ve also had people and businesses purchase lengths of fencing.”

Cassidy laughs, saying she has a number of sponsor signs in her apartment waiting to be placed on the fencing once it’s erected.
She says the park feature use pea gravel instead of grass because it’s cleaner, more hygienic and environmentally friendly.
It will The park will have separate closed areas for small and large dogs.
“I’ve traveled and visited a number of dog parks to see how things are done.”
The town hired a company specializing in designing public green spaces and details of a final design are being worked out.
You can make a donation to the Yarmouth Dog Park at town hall or on the association’s Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/YarmouthDogPark/
