The Municipality of Argyle is still considering a request for $18,000 annually from the West Pubnico Acadian Museum and Archives.
They want to hire an archivist for the summer months.
It’s a busy place with a huge database to help people search their Acadian roots.
Alain Muise, the CAO for the municipality, says staff will have discussions with employees with the Tusket archives and the Acadian museum and will make a recommendation to council following that process.
“It appears they will be deferring the decision until, at the very least, later on this year. But the feeling I got was that it would be something they would plan, if they were interested in funding it, that they would be funding it in the subsequent fiscal year.”
The research centre at the Museum and its extensive database attracts people from all over the world as they search their Acadian roots.
