You’re invited to ‘Walk the Walk for Autism’ tomorrow.
The annual event is being held in Yarmouth, starting at Central School at 9am with registration.
There will be a number of activities, including entertainment from Josh Cochrane and the Yarmouth Brass Quintet.
Organizer Angeline d’Entremont with the Southwest Nova Chapter of Autism Nova Scotia says they’re hoping to raise around $12,000 this year.
“Attendance has been increasing over the years. We’re looking at about 150 people this year, so we’re very excited.”
d’Entremont says her background in autism dates back to her high school years, when she worked with the Argyle Recreation department as a special needs counsellor.
That started her career in autism and disability support.
She says a lot of resources are lacking in our area, and she hopes to expand the services in the Tri-Counties.
“My hope is to expand the services, and have some special events throughout the year and extend the family support that we offer as well.”
