An unusual odour has forced the temporary relocation of the Barrington Health Clinic.
Staff alerted the Nova Scotia Health Authority when they noticed the smell.
Spokeperson Fraser Mooney says the source has not been determined.
“That’s why we want to do some testing to determine the source of the unusual odour. Following that there may need to be some remediation and repair work that needs to be done.”
Mooney says they also don’t know if this is related to an issue last year when the services has to be relocated due to condensation in the walls.
The health authority rents the space and Mooney says, as with last year, both parties worked together to get the clinic reopened as soon as possible.
He says it’s unclear if taxpayers or the building’s owner will foot the bill.
“Depending on what the situation is this time around, certainly we will work very closely with the building’s owners to determine how it’s going to be paid for.
People with upcoming booked appointments at the Barrington Health Centre will be contacted with the change of location of their appointment.
Until services are restored, people who require blood collection may use the services at Roseway Hospital in Shelburne or at Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
Roseway Hospital blood collection is Monday to Friday, 8 to 11 a.m.
Yarmouth Hospital blood collection is Monday to Friday: 7:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Both are closed on holidays.
