Waste Check, the solid waste authority for western Nova Scotia, will be unveiling a new mascot next week.
Local artist Dan Earle was asked to come up with the design and some participants at Yarmouth Life Skills painted the green cart.
Sherry Robertson, the executive director of Yarmouth Life Skills says it’s an awesome project.
“Dan, our volunteer artist, comes in and helps some of our participants with their artistic flair. We have people that paint, some people that build, some that colour.”
Participant Jody Deveau said she enjoyed helping to paint the mascot.
“I spray painted it orange, yellow and pink. I like painting because it’s relaxing.”
Nick Adams, another participant at Life Skills, also enjoyed painting the mascot, saying it was fun and easy.
Robertson says they’re having a friendly competition to name the mascot.
It will be unveiled on Tuesday June 19 at Yarmouth Life Skills.
