Tomorrow marks the 16th annual Yarmouth Karate Challenge Cup.
Mariners Centre will host the event once again, featuring athletes from all over the Maritimes.
Local sensei Milton Bourque says the action gets underway at 9am
“We’re expecting about 130 competitors. The quality of the competition should be good. The Nova Scotian team did very well at the national championships in Halifax in April.”
He says the challenge has put Yarmouth on the map for karate tournaments.
“We started out in high schools at Par-en-Bas and Yarmouth. We graduated to Mariners Centre with comfortable seating for everyone to come out and watch. The parents love it. It’s going to be good.”
There will also be demonstrations between noon and 1pm.
There is no fee for spectators, and action runs until about 5pm.
Tonight, a sparring clinic is also being held.
