Friends of the Light are excited about this year’s tourism season.
The museum, located in the lightkeeper’s house, is undergoing some final renovations but the gift shop is open.
Patti Durkee, a director with the Friends of the Light says staff and volunteers work hard to make the visitor’s experience a memorable one.
“The fog alarm building will be open again this year. We’re still working on getting a ramp put in but we’re hoping the funds will come in so we can do that in the fall.”
Durkee says last year about 10,000 people visited the Lightstation and Leif Erikson Trail, where part of the movie, The Lighthouse was filmed.
In a year, after the film’s release, interpretive panels featuring information about the movie will be placed on the trail.
There will be an outdoor concert on Canada Day, July 1.
Performers include Gerard LeBlanc and friends, Alyssa & Alex, and Triple Trouble with Marc Durkee.
