A Fire in Yarmouth County was put out quickly early Saturday morning.
Firefighters from Eel Brook and Lake Vaughan responded to a residence in the middle of Tusket on Highway 308 at 1:15am.
Eel Brook fire chief Jonathan LeBlanc says the fire was contained to a couple of rooms.
“All the occupants and pets got out safe, and everything went really well.”
He says the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
LeBlanc says thanks to local dispatchers and their knowledge of the area, firefighters were able to get to the scene quickly.
“They were able to tell us that it was close to a certain landmark, and next door to a prominent member of the community that everybody knows. We knew right where to go, and it made a difference of two or three minutes I’m sure.”
He also says smoke detectors alerted the residents, and it shows the importance of maintaining your smoke detectors.
