Cystic fibrosis research continues, as there is still no cure or control for the disease.
The local chapter of Cystic Fibrosis Canada is hosting their annual ‘Walk To Make Cystic Fibrosis History’ Sunday at Gateway Park in Yarmouth.
It will start at 1pm with an opening ceremony, and participants will be invited to walk around the track at the park.
Walk coordinator Frances Morris says she got involved after her granddaughter was diagnosed with the disease at the age of seven.
“We met other families who have family members with the disease. It’s all through CF Canada. Our granddaughter gets wonderful care through the clinics, which are scattered across Canada. There’s one in Halifax as well.”
Morris says money raised goes to help people with C.F. get proper care, and for advocacy.
$13,000 was raised during last year’s event.
As part of the weekend, there is a C.F. fundraiser taking place at Dooly’s tomorrow night.
