A Yarmouth Municipal Councillor is concerned about garbage blowing into Lake Milo in Dayton.
Loren Cushing is the Councillor for District 6, which covers the areas from Chegoggin to Cape Forchu.
A resident emailed council complaining about possible toxic substances getting into the lake as it blows across the Milo stretch.
He says residents brought this to his attention, and he’s concerned about what could get in the lake.
“The lake is used for swimming, sailing, kayaking. People also swim in the lake. There is a good possibility someone could be harmed.”
The Councillor does not fault the residents, as they are just putting out their weekly collection.
Cushing says it would be easy to install a barrier underneath the guardrail in front of Lake Milo.
“It would prevent the garbage from blowing across the road into the lake.”
He will meet with the local Transportation department, and this will be followed up at future council meeting.
