The mayor of Shelburne says the town has an aggressive and vigorous plan for community development and infrastructure projects for this fiscal year.
Council passed its $11 million dollar capital budget last week.
Karen Mattatall says they have applied for funding under the Building Canada Fund for one particular project.
“Improvements for Hammond Street and across the causeway. A new sidewalk and a culvert will be installed. It’s the road that goes down to the hospital.”
Mattatall says that has always been a priority for council but is dependent on federal funding.
She says the town is also seeking external funding for upgrades to the Marine Terminal.
Mattatall says the town will also be doing work on the historic Mill Building and making improvements to visitor signage.
“As everyone knows our Guild Hall is complete now. We’ll be having a grand opening. We have improvements of a couple of parks, and improvements to the cemetery.”
Mayor Mattatall says a new project for town council this year is the Economic Development Strategic Action Plan.
She says that includes a downtown revitalization project.
