The MLA for Argyle-Barrington says the Liberal government needs to be more realistic when setting budgets for highway work, especially for smaller communities.
Chris d’Entremont says Trunk 3 between Charlesville to Barrington Passage is a very busy stretch of road.
But the government has allowed it to fall into a start of disrepair and it’s becoming unsafe.
“There’s a lot of fish that comes out of there, lots of lobsters. We should have safe roads for them. I think I’m comfortable enough to say we’ve got in on the list and hopefully next year we’ll have something positive that we’ll see that work done.
He says the province has been slow even in just getting brush cleared along the side of the road.
d’Entremont says all of Highway 3 from Charlesville to Barrington Passage needs to be replaced.
He says the 20 kilometres of paving would take up all the provincial budget allotted for Argyle-Barrington.
