The Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Tourism Association has rolled out a Tourism Destination Management Plan.
It’s a three to five-year outlook reached through a consultative process with tourism stakeholders throughout the
region.
YASTA has been presenting the plan to municipal units.
Executive Director Neil Mackenzie tells CJLS News the metrics have changed over the years in understanding travelers interests.
“Nova Scotia have come up with three segments they like to target. Those are cultural explorers, authentic experiencers and free spirits
Star gazing has become hugely popular with tourists around the world.
MacKenzie says they’ve seen significant growth.
“Last month AIRB&B has identified Yarmouth and Acadian Shores as one of the top trending astro-tourism destinations in the world. We do have the Deep Sky Eye http://www.deepskyeye.com/ and Trout Point Lodge https://www.troutpoint.com/ has also been a great partner and pushed a lot of of the star gazing stuff.”
MacKenzie also credits the Municipality of Argyle in its efforts to promote the Starlight designation.
