The interim manager of the Yarmouth International Airport could remain in the position for a bit longer.
Alain Muise, CAO of the Municipality of Argyle, was appointed to the job after Mike Fields resigned as the airport’s full-time manager late last year.
Muise’s position is supposed to expire at the end of next month.
Last night at Argyle’s Committee of the Whole meeting many councillors like Guy Surette said the airport needs a full-time manager.
He says the municipal financial commitment also troubles him.
Surette says the $770,000 annual budget is too high.
“It’s way, way to high for what we’re getting out of it. I can see it coming down to $400,000 for the three municipal units, I hope.”
Deputy Warden Danny Muise says Alain Muise needs more time to do what needs to be done.
“Our concern is more, how much more work can one person take? We don’t want our municipality to suffer because he’s spending too much time at something else.”
Alain Muise suggested a seven month period.
A recommendation will be made to the full council to keep the CAO as interim manager for the time being with no set time limit.
It must be approved by the airport’s management board.
