A recent study by Leger Research Group has concluded more than half of Canadians report practicing no physical activity whatsoever.
It’s a number that’s concerning to Kinesiologist Alexandre Paré.
“Half of the people are totally inactive, or sedentary and those that do exercise, half of them aren’t aren’t matching the recommendations. Yeah, they move around a little bit, but not enough to get the health benefits.”
He says a lack of exercise is one of the highest factors in chronic disease.
“Diabetes, heart disease and hypertension those are the three major killers.”
Paré says losing just a few pounds, between 5-10% of your body weight goes a long way to reduce your risk.
He says spring is the perfect time to find a work out buddy and get moving.
