RCMP are searching for the driver of a stolen vehicle that crashed into a ditch in Shelburne County.
On March 31st at 9am, the vehicle was heading from Yarmouth towards Shelburne on Highway 103 at around 170 kilometres an hour.
Cpl. Darren Stevens with the Shelburne RCMP says the speeding vehicle flew past him just outside Barrington between Exits 29 and 30.
He says he turned around and activated his police lights.
“We realized it was picking up even greater speed and it was driving down the middle of the highway. We decided in regard to other vehicles and everybody’s safety, including the driver of the suspect vehicle, that we should shut it down and radio ahead to see if we could get a roadblock up.”
Officers would find the vehicle in a ditch outside of Birchtown, and the driver had fled on foot.
Police then ran licence plates and determined it was a stolen vehicle.
Cpl. Stevens says they are working with Yarmouth RCMP to find the driver.
Anyone with information is urged to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
