He may be retiring before the next election but Sterling Belliveau isn’t taking his foot off the pedal.
The NDP MLA for Queens-Shelburne says he is working to ensure health care, education and labour negotiations are kept in mind during the budget debates this spring.
“Many people think that you’re not involved in the game but I’m very much involved in the game and I look forward to – hopefully we’ll have a complete session this spring and I assure you those issues will be front and centre.”
Belliveau is stepping away after over a decade in provincial politics.
He says he feels confident in the direction NDP Leader Gary Burrill is taking the party.
The MLA for Queens-Shelburne says the NDP is the party to watch whenever the next election is called.
“[I’ve spoken with] Colleagues across the province. And I’ve told them – each of he and she, if they need my assistance, and whatever I can do to help them. I truly believe in the values of the NDP party.”
Belliveau feels there are a number of NDP candidates who will give the Liberals a close race.
