The province has announced an increase in government support for home efficiency improvements.
Premier Stephen McNeil announced an additional $4 million dollars for the current HomeWarming program and two million dollars to create a new program for affordable rental units and non-profit housing.
McNeil says it will reduce the energy bills of those who need it most and lower greenhouse gas emissions and create jobs.
“It’s building on a program we’ve had since 2013. This will be targeted towards First Nations communities as well as not-for-profit and renters. It’s really a positive thing.”
The HomeWarming program provides eligible low-income Nova Scotians with a home energy assessment and energy efficiency upgrades at no charge to the homeowner.
