Organizers are looking to move ahead with a dog park at 28 Jarvis Street in Yarmouth.
A final plan for the two-hectare property includes an all natural fenced-in playground, a small sitting park and two parking lots.
Dog park planning committee member Paul Trask made a presentation to town council last Thursday.
He says the project will be rolled out in four phases.
“All four phases are going to cost about $479,000. Phase One is about $192,500 and we’re asking the town to put $11,550 into work at the property.”
Trask says the rest of the money will be gathered by donations and the use of the community asset donation program.
The property has to be re-zoned, and a public hearing will be held before the next council meeting.
Meanwhile, town council will vote on their financial contribution at the next Committee of the Whole meeting.
Trask is hoping to have the first phase complete this summer.
