Tickets are going fast for HOPE’s annual vehicle lottery.
The Handicapped Organization Promoting Equality has been operating it for 23 years.
It’s a major fundraiser for the programs offered by Hope.
Spokesperson Linda Vickery says presently they get no money from government other than a small subsidy for the Dial-A Ride service.
“All the money that we get from the car lottery and the bake sales and everything else keeps us going from year to year. We have our summer day care for kids with needs and we also have our trustee program. We pay the client’s rent and heat and lights out their cheques because they are unable to do that. Otherwise they would be homeless”
The big prize is a 2017 Hyundai Elantra LE or $15,000 cash.
Second prize is $500 and third prize is $100 worth of lobster.
Vickery says they expect to be in their new building on Bond Street by the first week of April.
