Signs of improvement when it comes to motorists committing school bus red light violations.
The Tri-County Regional School Board reports that in December 2016, there were 17 violations, down from 24 in December 2015.
Also, the number of violations from September to December 2016 fell from 121 to 103 compared with the same period in 2015.
TCRSB Director of Operations Steve Stoddart says it’s encouraging to see the numbers start to slide.
“It’s encouraging to see that they’re finally beginning a drop. I’m hoping that all the attention we’ve been giving to it is finally getting through. 103 is still too many but it’s better than 121.”
Stoddart says Digby and Shelburne showed the largest decrease in the December figures, while Yarmouth increased by 4.
He says with continued awarness, he’s hopeful the numbers will fall even more in the coming months.
