International Women’s Day will be recognized next Wednesday.
It celebrates women’s achievements and reflects on the work needed for women to reach full autonomy.
The executive director of the Tri-County Women’s Centre says much has been accomplished, but more needs to be done.
Bernadette MacDonald says they know that first-hand.
“At the women’s centre, we get calls weekly if not sometimes daily from women in the workplace across the Tri-Counties who are trying to figure out if they’re been sexually harassed or bullied. They describe what’s happening to them and we name if for them. We name it and frame it.”
MacDonald says many workplaces still don’t have health and safety policies in place that deal with sexual harassment and bullying.
She says women who are victims should never feel alone.
