A veteran and the driving force behind the Korean War Memorial in Yarmouth has passed away.
His obituary says Cecil Eugene Roy died Friday at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital surrounded by family.
He was 85.
Roy was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Black Watch.
He worked tirelessly to the see the building of the Korean War Memorial.
Roy spent countless hours raising money for Christmas Daddies.
He was also a member of the Canadian Merchant Navy Association, Lester B. Pearson Canadian International Peace Keeping Training Centre and Royal Canadian Legion Branch 61 where he was past-president.
A funeral service for Cecil Roy will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel in Yarmouth.
