If tonight’s game at Mariners Centre is a first round MHL playoff preview, fans are in for one heck of a series.
The Yarmouth Junior A Mariners fell 5-4 in a shootout to the Truro Bearcats in front of a lively crowd of over 1300.

Bearcats Captain Kyle Tibbo scored the winner in the fourth round of the shootout on Leif Hertz, who may have been injured after he was crashed into during overtime.
The win puts Truro in sole possession of second place in the Eastlink South Division by one point over Yarmouth.
A strong third period by the Mariners got it to overtime, as the Bearcats were up 3-1 after two periods.
Goals 50 seconds apart by Mateo Short and Ty Power early in the game tied it at three.
Short would score his second of the game on a powerplay with 4:42 left to give Yarmouth the lead.
But two penalties on the same play to the Mariners put the Bearcats on a two minute five-on-three late.
With 1:47 left and the Bearcats net empty, Riley Baggs would scored the equalizer on a rare six-on-three advantage.
It doesn’t get any easier for the Mariners, who host Miramichi tomorrow night at 7:30.
On Wednesday, Yarmouth will try for its first win over the Bearcats in six tries this season in Truro.
The Mariners have six games left in the regular season.
