A big win for the Yarmouth Junior A Mariners tonight.
They defeated the Amherst Ramblers 5-1 at Amherst Stadium.
Goals were scored by Andrew Martell and Lawrence Lyver in the first period after the Rams went up 1-0.
Duncan McKie would give Yarmouth a 3-1 lead in the second period on the powerplay.
Aaron Maillet and Mike Snow would score in the third period to put the game out of reach.
Leif Hertz got the win in goal for Yarmouth making 25 saves, Darryl MacCallum stopped 31 shots for Amherst.
Mateo Short fought the Ramblers Matt Lapointe in the third.
With Truro’s loss, the Mariners moved into a tie for second place with the Bearcats.
Yarmouth visits Summerside tomorrow night, 6pm.
