A fisherman was airlifted to hospital Saturday after he fell overboard from a lobster boat off Lockeport.
Lt.-Navy Sean Ritchie with Joint Task Force Atlantic says the rescue centre received a call from the vessel ‘Chasin Crustacean’
which was about 87 kilometres off the coast at the time.
“A member of the ship, a 32-year-old male, fell overboard after he was hit in the chest by a lobster pot. He was quickly hauled in by members of his crew
however he had symptoms of hypothermia.”
Lt. Ritchie says a Cormorant helicopter was dispatched from CFB Greenwood and the fisherman was flown to the Yarmouth Regional
Hospital.
The man’s condition isn’t known.
The patient was transported by #413Sqn Cormorant to a hospital in Yarmouth for further medical attention. Asset has been stood down.
